On the 109th “birthday” of the club, Panathinaikos celebrated a 79-84 win over Galatasaray in Turkey to increase their record to 12-9 in this year’s Euroleague. The Prasini were “on fire” from behind the arch, finishing the game 16/31.

Panathinaikos got off to a slow start away to Galatasaray in the 21st round of the Euroleague Regular Season. The visitors fell behind early, however quickly recovered to take a small 3-point lead into halftime (43-46).

To start the third quarter, Panathinaikos caught fire from behind the arch scoring FIVE straight three pointers between Calathes and Feldene to increase their lead to 14-points. Galatasaray did manage to come back and pull within three points at the end of the third period, however Panathinaikos converted important possessions into points and regained  comfortable 11-point advantage (66-77).

Galatasaray continued to fight for the win until the end, but it was Panathinaikos who held on for a 79-84 victory on a day the club celebrated their 109th “birthday.”

James was Panathinaikos’ top scorer with 18 points and led the club to victory in the fourth quarter. Feldene had his first good game in a while, putting up 15 points (5/6 from 3-point range) while Singleton also scored 15 points. Calathes will be pleased with his performance of 10-points and 7 assists as Bourousis finished with 8-points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. As a team, Panathinaikos went 16/31 from behind the arch.

The win increases Panathinaikos record to 12-9 in this year’s Euroleague as a place in the playoffs seems all the more sure. The Greek Cup champions have two upcoming home games in the Euroleague (Bamberg, UNICS Kazan) and with two wins could manage to pull into fourth spot, which leads to homecourt advantage in the postseason.
