Thessalonikiotes Win Game 1

Aris and PAOK were both victorious in Game 1 for the A1 Basket League Playoffs. Aris defeated Kifisia 78-60 while PAOK came away with the upset win away to AEK 78-83.

Aris 78 - 60 Nea Kifisia

A deceiving score in Thessaloniki with Aris defeating Kifisia by 18 points. The game was close until the home side went on a 23-8 run in the final six minutes, taking a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series. Walters (18 points, 5 assists), McNeil (15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists), and White (13 points, 8 rebounds) were the top players for Aris. Kaselakis was the leading scorer for the visitors with 14 points. Aris will look to clinch their place in the semi-finals when they travel to Kifisia for game 2.

AEK 78 - 83 PAOK

In Athens, AEK found themselves ahead for most of the game and led by as much as 17 points. Despite AEK’s lead, PAOK’s great fourth quarter was enough to complete the comeback and win of 78-83. The win "breaks" AEK's home-court advantage, as PAOK will host the Black and Yellows for Game 2 with a win sending PAOK to the Semi-Finals. Hatcher, who was PAOK’s best player with 21 points, led the fourth quarter surge. Mavrokefalidis was AEK's leading scorer with 19 points.
