Good Debut for Pedoulakis

Panathinaikos 91 - 63 Kolossos Rodou

Panathinaikos defeated Kolossos Rodou 91-63 in game 1 of the A1 Basket League Playoff Quarter-Finals. It was Argiris Pedoulakis’ first game in charge of the club since Sasa Dordevic was fired last week. Nikos Pappas returned from a three-month injury, playing 12 minutes and scoring 8 points for Panathinaikos.

Panathinaikos got off to a slow start, lagging behind 0-7 in the first three minutes of the game. But the Greens came back on fire, taking a 34-14 lead into the second quarter. Kolossos fought hard and cut the Greens lead to single digits but Panathinaikos bounced back and took an 18-point lead into half time.

Nikos Pappas got a standing ovation in the third quarter from the home crowd after returning from a three month injury. Panathinaikos continued to increase their lead in the second half, going ahead by 30 points (91-58). Panathinaikos won by 28 points (91-63), giving them a 1-0 lead in the best of three series. The leading scorer for Panathinaikos was Feldene with 20 points and Calathes, Fotsis, and Williams each had 10 points. Larentzakis scored 14 points for the visitors. This was a good start for Argiris Pedoulakis in his first game in charge of the club.

Game 2 will take place in Rodos on Wednesday.
