APOEL was crowned champions of the Cypriot First Division after defeating AEK Larnaca 2-0. This is APOEL's 4th straight title and the 25th in their history.
In the matchday's derby, first placed APOEL hosted second placed AEK Larnaca in Nicosia. A win for the home side would mathematically give them the Cypriot First Division Title. APOEL opened the score 4 minutes before the break and Gianniotas converted a penalty to double APOEL's lead in the 65th minute. The win put APOEL 7 points ahead of second placed AEK Larnaca with two games remaining in the "Championship Round." APOEL celebrated their fourth straight title, and the 25th in their history, the most out of any other clubs in Cyprus. As champions, they will represent Cyprus in next year’s UEFA Champions League and enter the 2nd qualifying round of the competition.
