Liverpool visited Villarreal in the Europa League semi-finals in Spain. Both teams did not produce many chances for the first half, leaving them goal-less into the break. Within the first 20 minutes of the second half, both teams came close to opening the score, but the woodwork denied them on both occasions. Neither Villarreal nor Liverpool could score and it seemed that the game would end 0-0. A great counter-attack from the Spaniards ended in the back of the net in the second minute of stoppage time, giving Villarreal the 1-0 win. It is Villarreal’s biggest win in their history and they have the advantage before next week’s second leg game to progress to their first Europa League Final.

Sevilla got off to a great start opening the score in the 6th minute. However, the home side was able to respond, scoring twice before the half-time whistle and taking a 2-1 lead into the break. Sevilla came back with another goal 8 minutes before the end of the game from the penalty spot. The 2-2 score puts Sevilla as heavy favorites to advance to the Europa League Final. A win or a draw (less than 2 goals) will see them through.
