- Benfica Buys Mitroglou from Fulham -
Benfica paid Fulham 7 million Euros and bought Kostas Mitroglou! The Greek forward had a magnificent season on loan at Benfica, from Fulham, and the Portuguese side has made him theirs.
Fulham bought Mitroglou from Olympiacos in 2014 but due to his many injuries he saw little time at the English side. He was then loaned off in 2015 back Olympiacos, where he had a great season. This season, Fulham loaned him out to Benfica and Mitroglou completed one of his best seasons ever! The Greek striker scored 20 goals in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, 2 goals in the Champions League, and was the team’s second leading scorer. His success in his first season at the club convinced Benfica to buy him permanently from Fulham. Mitroglou signed a 4 year contract (ends in 2020) and will earn 1.8 million euros a year. After his deal, Mitroglou tweeted “Extremely happy-proud to continue being member for the years to come of this huge club.” Hopefully Mitroglou will continue his good form with Benfica, as Greece will need his goal scoring abilities in World Cup Qualifying!
