Portuguese primeira liga
|Maritimo||0 - 2||Benfica|
Another Goal for Kostas Mitroglou! The Greek striker opened the score early in the second half for Benfica’s, in their match away to Maritimo. The “Eagles” went on to win 0-2 and are one win away from winning the Portuguese Title!
Mitroglou has found his form in Portugal, scoring week in and week out for Benfica. Things did not go according to plan for Benfica, when they were left with 10 men in the first half. However, early in the second half Mitroglou found the back of the net with a well-placed left-footed shot and opened the score for the visitors. The goal gave Benfica the confidence to push on and secure all three points when Talisca doubled the lead late in the game. Mitroglou is Benfica’s second leading scorer with TWENTY goals in the Portuguese Primeira Liga! His side is currently 1st in the standings, leading Sporting Lisbon by two points with one game remaining in the league. Benfica will look to clinch the Portuguese Title on the final matchday when they host Nacional in Lisbon. Benfica’s other Greek international, Andreas Samaris, was subbed onto the pitch in the 79th minute.
