-- Karelis & Mitroglou Lead Their Clubs to Victories --
Both Nikos Karelis and Kostas Mitroglou scored in their clubs victories on Sunday. Karelis found the back of the net in the 88th minute to give Genk the 1-0 win over St. Truidense while Mitroglou’s powerful header opened the score in Benfica’s 2-0 away win at Belenenses.
Nikos Karelis has been in good form of late scoring in many of Genk’s recent fixtures. The Greek striker gave his side all three points with a goal in the 88th minute against St. Truidense in the Belgian Jupiler League. Karelis’ goal came from a corner that was not cleared by the opposing defense as the ball fell onto the path of the 24-year old, who made no mistake from close range. The win keeps Genk in 8th place with 17 points.
Kostas Mitroglou has scored once again for Benfica this season. The former Olympiacos player opened the score for his club with a powerful header from Pizzi’s corner in the 10th minute. Benfica secured their win when Grimaldo doubled the Eagles lead midway through the second half. The win keeps Benfica atop the Portuguese Primeira League Standings, three points ahead of second placed FC Porto.
