PAS Giannina and Atromitos were victorious in their opening group matches for the Greek Cup defeating Xanthi and Panetolikos, respectively. In Nea Smyrni, Panionios and Levadiakos played to a goalless draw.

PAS Giannina defeated Xanthi 1-0 in Group D to move up to 3 points along with Agrotikos Asteras, who defeated Kallithea yesterday. The only goal of the game came in the 16th minute when Maboulou’s impressive effort found the back of the net. The goal scorer had a chance in second half stoppage time to score his second of the night, when PAS Giannina was awarded a penalty for a foul on Conde, but Maboulou set his effort from 11-meters out. PAS Giannina and Agrotikos Asteras each have 3 points in Group D while Kalloni and Xanthi are without points after matchday 1.

Panionios was the better side in a goalless draw against Levadiakos in Nea Smyrni. The hosts pressed Namasco’s goal throughout the match, but could not find the breakthrough. On the other end, Levadiakos had two great opportunities to steal all three points in the 24th minute with Giakoumakis and in second half stoppage time through Toni Silva, but the visitors also wasted their chances. Tomorrow, Kissamikos and Panserraikos will round off matchday 1 in Group H.

A second half goal from Baga was enough to give Atromitos all three points against Panetolikos at the Peristeri Stadium in their Group G encounter. The hosts did not put on a convincing performance but made the most of their chances to earn yet another good result under Giorgos Korakakis. The win puts Atromitos level on 3 points with Panthrakikos while Panetolikos and Kallithea have zero points in Group G.
