Sparti and Trikala began their 2017 Cup campaigns with blowout victories against Chania and Panelefsiniakos, respectively. Sparti defeated Chania 4-0 at home while Trikala traveled to Panelefsiniakos and recorded a 0-5 victory! Additionally, Kissamikos defeated Panserraikos 0-2 in Serres.
Sparti made a statement to everyone in the Football League by defeating Chania 4-0 at home for the their opening fixture in the Greek Cup. The hosts quickly found the breakthrough with Bountopoulos’ shot in the second minute and comfortably held their lead as Chania failed to threaten Sparti throughout the match. In the second half, Sparti added three goals with Anastasakos (49’), Iliopoulos (67’), and Arsenijevic (87’) to go on to win 4-0. The emphatic 4-goal victory puts Sparti first in Group B, ahead of Olympiacos, who defeated Platanias 3-0 yesterday.
Like Sparti, Trikala showed that they are ready for the start of this year’s Football League by defeating Panelefsiniakos 0-5 in Elefsina for their opening fixture of the Greek Cup. The visitors quickly secured all three points, going ahead 0-2 by the 23rd minute with two goals from Kouskounas (12’ and 23’). Before the break, Trikala added a third with Moumin’s deflected shot finding the back of the net. Baykara and Giannitsanis added their names to the score sheet late in the match as Trikala went on to win 0-5.
Kissamikos went atop of Group H after defeating Panserraikos 0-2 in Serres to begin their 2017 Cup campaign. The man of the match was Kissamikos’ Kike who opened the scoring in the 30th minute and set up Theos in the 75th minute to double his side’s lead. Panserraikos played with 10-men in the second half after Mafouta was sent off in the 44th minute. With today’s victory, Kissamikos leads Group H on 3-points while Panionios and Levadiakos drew 0-0 in the other group’s fixture.
