A goal from Tsoukalas in the 7th minute of second half stoppage time gave Asteras Tripolis the 1-0 victory over Veria in their opening Cup match in Group E. In Group F, Lamia defeated Anagennisi Karditsas 1-0 with a first half penalty from Blazic.
Tsoukalas was the hero for Asteras Tripolis in their Group E encounter at home to Veria with the Greek player scoring in the 7th minute of second half stoppage time to give Asteras Tripolis the 1-0 win. In a rather poor match, where Veria had ZERO shots in the 90 minutes of play, it seemed that the visitors would walk away with a point despite a poor performance. Fortunately for Asteras, Tsoukalas gave the hosts the victory and the upper hand to advance from Group E. The Arkades are level on points with Aris, who easily defeated Aiginiakos 0-3 on Tuesday.
Blazic’s penalty in the 30th minute was enough to give Lamia all three points at home to Anagennisi Karditsas in their opening fixture for Group E. The same player had an opportunity in the 82nd minute to add another goal from the penalty spot, but Koutsopoulos kept his side in the game denying the goal scorer. Lamia held onto their 1-0 win at the final whistle and joined AEK on 3 points in Group F.
