-- Ninis & Karelis Score Again in Belgium --
Nikos Karelis and Sotiris Ninis found the back of the net for their respective clubs in the Belgian Jupiler League on Saturday. Genk went on to defeat Westerlo 2-1 while Ninis’ Charleroi drew St. Truiden 2-2 on the road.
Sotiris Ninis was Charleroi’s man of the match as his side drew St. Truiden 2-2 in the Belgian Jupiler League. The Greek player, who scored against Karelis’ Genk during the week, found the back of the net for the second consecutive game to give Charleroi the 0-1 lead in the 16th minute. Peeters equalized for St. Truiden and Charleroi retook the lead in the second half, with Ninis providing the assist to Pollet. Unfortunately for Ninis and Charleroi, St. Truiden quickly pulled level and the two sides settled with a 2-2 draw.
Nikos Karelis scored for the third consecutive game for Genk, giving his side the 2-0 lead at home to Westerlo. Karelis’ goal came in the 66th minute only 8 minutes after Pozuelo found the opener for his side. Late in the half, Westerlo pulled one back and Karelis’ goal was the decider as Genk held onto the 2-1 victory. The Greek striker has now scored 8 goals in league play this season and is Genk’s leading scorer.
