Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and Aris each advanced to the Greek Cup semi-finals after easily defeating Kolossos Rodou, PAOK, and Kymis. AEK and Koroivos round off the quarterfinal matches tomorrow.

Olympiacos had a great showing in today’s quarterfinal, easily defeating Kolossos Rodou 99-48. The Erythrolefki’s defense was superb and with lots of energy on the offensive end the game was laid to rest very early when Olympiacos took 31-point lead into halftime. Green led Olympiacos with 16 points and Birch followed with 10 points. Spanoulis showed that his creating game has improved, giving 8 assists while scoring 8 points. 

Kymi was able to stay close with Aris for the opening 10 minutes were they trailed by 7 points going into the second quarter. An explosive Aris in the second quarter, outscored their opponents 38-9, gave the club from Thessaloniki a 36-point lead into the break and ultimately and easy 98-62 victory. 

PAOK put up a great fight against Panathinaikos, but was unable to pull off a massive upset, falling 88-69. Panathinaikos only had a 4-point lead at halftime that was increased to 7 points going into the fourth quarter. A good performance in the fourth quarter, outscored PAOK 24-12, shattered PAOK’s dreams of an upset (cut the lead to 5 points with 8 minutes to play). Bourousis was Panathinaikos’ leading scorer with 23 points (16 in the first half) and Pappas followed with 18 points (5/6 from 3-point range). Calathes had a cold night from behind the arch, 0/8, but scored 14 points. Chrisikopoulos was PAOK’s leading scorer with 13 points.

Tomorrow, AEK and Koroivos play for the fourth and final spot in the semi-finals.
