OFI began their 2016/17 Football League campaign with a draw away to Kissamikos, giving up a late goal and dropping two points. In Serres, Panserraikos cameback to defeat Panelefsiniakos 2-1 while Aiginiakos and Lamia played to a goalless draw.
The match between the two Cretan sides, Kissamikos and OFI, got off to a late start because of heavy rainfall that affected the playing conditions at the Maleme Stadium. The awful conditions did not allow for good play by either side and it took 81 minutes for the first goal of the game to be scored. It was OFI who opened the scoring with Vouho before lackluster defending from the visitors allowed Milic to equalize for the “delfinia” with only a minute remaining in regulation. The two teams shared a point as OFI will be disappointed to drop two points in their quest for promotion to next year’s Superleague. View the goals here...
In Serres, Panserraikos found themselves down early in the match against Panelefsiniakos with the visitors finding the opening goal in the 11th minute through Tabakis. The lead only lasted two minutes as Panserraikos quickly equalized with Kakko. The score held up at the break and in the second half, Matija Tadic was subbed on for the hosts, bringing new life to the team. The Serbian youngster won a penalty for his side with 15 minutes remaining and Ioannidis made no mistake from the spot to give Panserraikos the 2-1 victory.
The other match of the day saw Aiginiakos and Lamia play to a goalless draw in Aiginio. Both teams had good chances to score with Gkourtsas coming the closest for the hosts, as his effort was denied by the woodwork.
