-- Greece Continues Long Unbeaten Streak in World Cup Qualifying --
The Greek National Team earned an important point against Bosnia in Sunday’s World Cup Qualifier thanks to a tremendous strike from Giorgos Tzavellas in the final minute of stoppage time. The goal continues Greece’s impressive unbeaten run in World Cup Qualifying both at home and on the road.
The last time Greece was defeated in World Cup Qualifying was back in March 2013, when they fell to Bosnia 3-1 on the road. Since then, the Galanolefki has recorded 9 wins and 2 draws from 11 matches.
More impressively, Greece remain unbeaten at home in World Cup Qualifying since October 2008 when Switzerland came away with a 1-2 victory at the Karaiskakis Stadium. Twelve matches have been played in Greece since that loss (either at the Karaiskakis, OAKA, Pankritio Stadium) with our National Team registering 9 wins and 3 draws.
Greece’s next qualifier will be their theoretically toughest test in group play when they travel to Belgium in March. Their next home fixture will be in late August of next year against Estonia.
