Big Derbies in the Greek Cup Semi-Finals

-- Big Derbies in the Greek Cup Semi-Finals --

The Greek Cup Semi-final draw paired the eternal enemies, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, for another showdown at the Stadio Erinis kai Filias. In the other semi-final, Aris will host AEK.

Olympiacos and Panathinaikos will meet in the Greek Cup Semi-finals at the Stadio Erinis kai Filias on January 16th while Aris host AEK on January 14th. The pairings were announced after today’s draw. Both games will be a single knockout fixture.

Panathinaikos will look to continued their impressive run in the competition after defeating last year’s big cinderella story, Faros, 101-54 in the final where the Trifylli lifted their 5th straight title. January will now have 3 derbies between the two rivals as they will meet in the Euroleague, Basket League, and the Greek Cup in a span of 22 days.

The other semi-final pair is sure to be an intriguing one as Aris will host AEK at the Nick Galis Hall. Aris made it to the Cup final three years ago where they fell to Panathinaikos while AEK’s last appearance in the final was in 2001, where they lifted the Cup against Panathinaikos.

This year’s final will take place on February 19th with the location to be announced at a later date.
