GREEK SOCCER CUP - GROUP STAGE (MATCHDAY 2)
|Anagenissi Kardistas||2 - 2||AEK|
|Pekhart 36', 47'
AEK gave up a two goals within nine minutes away to Anagennisi Karditsas as the two sides played to a 2-2 draw. Pekhart scored both goals for AEK while Tzekos and Maiga gave the hosts an unexpected point from today's match.
Pekhart opened the scoring for AEK in the 36th minute with a powerful shot that found the back of the net, putting an end to the Czech’s goal scoring drought. In the second half, the same player doubled AEK’s advantage by finishing a cross from the right-hand side with his tap in (with his knee) two minutes after the restart. AEK was on cruise control as they had a commanding lead, but Anagennisi began to pressure the Kitronomavri and Anestis was called into action on multiple occasions. The pressure paid off for the hosts when they pulled one back with Tzekos’ header in the 68th minute and nine minutes later, Maigia stunned the visitors by bringing Anagennisi level with a header of his own. The hosts held onto the draw at the final whistle, keeping their hopes alive in Group F.
AEK continues to lead the way in the group with 4 points while Anagennisi earned their first point in the group phase. Lamia and Kerkyra will face off in the other group fixture tomorrow.
