Fernando Santos was honored at the annual P.S.A.T. Awards for leading Portugal to the Euro 2016 Championship in France. The former Greek National Team coach gave his speech in Greek and said that one day he will return.
It was a special night at the annual P.S.A.T (Panhellenic Association of Sports Press) awards were the best of the best in Greek sports for 2016 were honored for their accomplishments (more can be found here). One of the people honored on Monday evening was former Greek National Team coach, Fernando Santos, for leading his nation, Portugal, to the Euro 2016 Title over the summer.
Kostas Katsouranis and Nikos Lymberopoulos presented the award to Santos as he gave his speech IN GREEK saying “Good evening to everyone and to all the Greeks. I am very happy that I am here, in a country that is in my heart. I thank you all for the invitation to be here and receive this award. I would like to share this award with everyone I have worked with in Greece for 10 years. This award is also yours. I will never forget you all. One day I will return. Merry Christmas and Xronia Polla with peace and health to all. I thank you all very much.”
The crowd gave Santos a standing ovation for his accomplishments and for saying his speech in Greek. Santos recognizes Greece as his second home and during his Euro 2016 triumph, he never forgot about the Greek people thanking them for their support on multiple occasion during interviews and official press conferences.
