Dominating Second Half from Olympiacos

Olympiacos 4 - 0 Levadiakos
Ideye 48', 74'
Milivojevic 69'
Fortounis 71'

FOUR second half goals gave Olympiacos a 4-0 victory over Levadiakos for the 13th matchday of the Greek Superleague. Ideye opened the scoring (the goal was offsides) in the 48th minute and three goals within 5 minutes from Milivojevic, Fortounis, and Ideye gave Olympiacos all 3-points.

After a well-balanced opening 20 minutes, Olympiacos began to increase the pressure in Levadiakos’ half and Ideye came close to opening the score in the 21st minute, but Milopoulos cleared his shot off the line. The Erythrolefki failed to find the breakthrough in the first half as they had trouble finishing the opportunities that were created.

It was a completely different story in the second half for the defending champions. Three minutes after the restart, Seba’s flicked-on header was turned in by Ideye’s acrobatic scissors kick, giving Olympiacos the 1-0 lead. After looking at the replay, the goal should have been disallowed since Ideye was in an offside position. Levadiakos had two great opportunities in the 57th and 61st minutes to pull level, but Mantzios and Giakoumakis (one-on-one) were unable to find the back of the net.

Olympiacos took advantage of the visitors’ missed opportunities and in the 69th minute, Luka Milivojevic doubled the Erythrolefki’s lead with a perfectly placed shot in the bottom corner. With the 3-points in the bag, Olympiacos was “in the mood” for more as Fortounis added a third goal only minutes later, making no mistake from inside the penalty area. The fourth goal came quickly after with Ideye scoring his second goal of the night, after turning in de la Bella’s cross with a header from close range.

In the final quarter hour, Olympiacos had great chances to add a fifth (Pardo was denied by the post), however the final whistle brought an end to an emphatic second half that gave Olympiacos the 4-0 victory.

With today’s result, the “Red and Whites” bounce back after last week’s slip-up at home to Kerkyra as they continue to lead the way in the Superleague Standings. Next Monday, Olympiacos travel to play a very good PAS Giannina side while Levadiakos face-off against AEK at the OAKA Stadium.
