Kissamikos thrashed Panionios 3-0 in a rescheduled match from the 2nd Matchday of the Greek Cup group stage. The win sends Kissamikos through to the next round while Panionios will need a miracle to advance.
It was a historic night for Kisssamikos as they advanced to the next round of the Greek Cup for the first time in the club’s history after a big 3-0 victory over Panionios. The two teams met today for the second matchday of the Greek Cup after last week's match was postponed due to the weather.
Kissamikos was the better side on all fronts during the 90 minutes of play and the opener came in the 29th minute with Martinez’s strike. Panionios could not convert their chances early in the second half and in the 75th minute, Mantzis’ shot gave the hosts a 2-0 lead (was subbed on six minutes prior). After a long delay due to the weather, Martinez added a third goal from the penalty spot to cap off a fantastic and historic night for Kissamikos.
With the loss, Panionios will need a miracle to advance to the next round of the competition as they sit in third with one point from two games. They will need to win their final match against Panserraikos, hope Kissamikos defeats Levadiakos, and will need to accumulate a better goal differential than Levadiakos to advance to the knockout stages.
