Portugal advanced as one of the top four third placed teams.

Dzsudzsak 47', 55'
Nani 42'
Ronaldo 50', 62'

Ronaldo came through for his country when it counted most, in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Hungary. A beautiful left-footed strike gave Hungary the lead in 19th minute before Nani’s goal (from a perfect assist from Ronaldo) brought the game back on level terms. An exciting first 20 minutes of the second half began with a fortunate deflection from Dzsudzsak’s free-kick that ended in the back of Patricio’s net. Quickly after the go-ahead goal, Ronaldo scored one of the goals of the tournament with a beautiful back-heel bringing Portugal level 2-2. Like Dzsudzsak’s first goal, another fortunate deflection gave Hungary their 3rd lead of the night and Dzsudzsak’s second goal of the game. But Ronaldo refused to see his country go out of Euro 2016 in the Group Stages and with a powerful header equalized for Portugal for the third time on the night. The final 25 minute of the game provided few chances for either team and the match ended in a 3-3 draw. The one point put Portugal 3rd in the group and was enough for Fernando Santos’ men to advance to the knockout stages as one of the top four third placed teams. Hungary, who surprisingly qualified out of Greece’s group, moves on with top spot in group F. Portugal will face Croatia in the Last 16 while Hungary will have a difficult task against Belgium.

Iceland 2 - 1 Austria
Bodvarsson 18'
Traustason 90'+4'
Schopf 60'

Iceland and Austria faced off in the final matchday of Group F as a loss for either team would see them bow out of Euro 2016. Iceland were the first to threaten on goal with Gudmundsson’ thunderous strike rattling the crossbar. With Iceland looking the better of the two sides, the opening goal came from a Bodvarsson’s closed range shot, giving Iceland the 1-0 lead. Austria, who needed a win to advance, had a chance to pull level when they were awarded a penalty in the 35th minute. However, Dragovic’s strike from the penalty spot was denied by the post and Iceland kept their 1-0 lead. In the second half, Austria pressed on for the equalizer and it paid off when Schopf’s great individual effort ended in the back of the net. Both teams threw away chances to pull ahead (mainly Austria) and with Austria fully committed forward in stoppage time, Iceland broke away on the counter attack, scoring the late winner. The goal put Iceland 2nd in Group F (would have advanced with a draw) and they will face England in the Last 16. Austria’s disappointing European campaign comes to an end with only one point from three matches.
