France 2 - 1 Ireland
Griezmann 58, 61' Brady (p) 2'

With two goals in three minutes, Griezmannn gave France the 2-1 comeback victory over Ireland and the hosts advanced to the Quarter-Finals. They will play the winner of the match between England and Iceland which will take place tomorrow.

Ireland got off to a dream start when Long was brought down by Pogba in the penalty spot and the Italian referee, Rizzoli, awarded the penalty. Brady converted from the spot, giving Ireland the lead 2 minutes into the game. Although France controlled the possession, it was Ireland who created the next best chance through Duffy’s header that went wide. Good defending from the Irish kept France off the scoreboard and they took their 1-0 lead into halftime. The French came out of the locker-rooms firing and the equalizer was looming. In the 58th minute, Sagna’s cross was met by a powerful, well-placed header from Griezmann that beat Randolph, tieing the game 1-1. Three minutes later, the Atletico Madrid star struck again when Giroud found the unmarked Frenchman, who kept his composure in front of goal and gave France the 2-1 lead. The match “hero” was not done there and in the 65th minute he broke away in on goal for his third goal. However, he was brought down by the last man, Duffy, which resulted in the sending off of the Irish defender. With the man advantage, France flooded Ireland’s goal, creating numerous chances to secure their victory. The goal didn’t come and Griezmann’s double was enough to see his nation through to the quarter-finals.

France will await the winner of the match between England and Ireland in the quarterfinals of Euro 2016. Ireland, who advanced to the Round of 16 with a late goal against Italy in the final group stage match, bows out of the tournament.
