APOEL failed to come away with a win in their first leg in the Champions league 2nd Qualifying Round, playing to a goalless draw with The New Saints. APOEL will host the team from Wales in one week for the second leg.

APOEL was clearly the better side in today’s match with their lack of composure in front of goal keeping them from finding the back of the net. The hosts did not threaten APOEL as the game ended in a goalless draw.

Despite today’s result, APOEL remains the heavy favorites to advance to the 3rd Qualifying Round. They will host the team from Wales in one week for the second leg. A win will send APOEL through while a non-goalless draw or loss with send The New Saints to the next round. If the game ends 0-0, extra time will be played.

In other action, Celtic surprisingly fell away to the Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar 1-0, while Salzburg, Crvena Zvezda , BATE Borisov, Hapoel Beer Sheva, Qarabag, and Dinamo Zagreb all won their first leg matches.
