- Panathinaikos Completes Ledesma Signing -
After training with Panathinaikos for over a week, Cristian Ledesma has signed a 2-year contract with the Prasini. The defensive midfielder is the 6th signing of the summer for Panathinaikos.
Ledesma has show his high class as a player during his training with Panathinaikos. The former Lazio star put on great performances during Panathinaikos’ friendlies, especially in their previous match against Turkish giants Fenerbahce. He will look to strengthen Panathinaikos’ midfield, after signing a 2-year contract with the Athenian club.
Ledesma began his career in Italy with Lecce where he had 126 appearances and 4 goal from 2002-2006. In 2006, he moved to Lazio where he became one of the most well known players in the Serie A. In his NINE year stay in Rome, he led his side to their place in the UEFA Champions League & UEFA Cup and won the Italian Cup on two occasions. He was the captain at Lazio for many years and was irreplaceable in the midfield. With Lazio, he had 318 appearances and 14 goals from 2006-2015. In 2015, the Roman side decided not to renew his contract and Ledesma moved to Brazil for Santos. Due to little playing time with Santos, he decided to leave the club in January. Since then, he trained on his own while looking for the next stop in his career, which will Panathinaikos until 2018.
