Panathinaikos has announced the signing of 25-year old defender, Nuno Reis. The Portuguese player signed a 3-year contract with Panathinaikos. Former Lazio midfielder, Cristian Ledesma is close to signing with the Trifylli.
Reis was born in Switzerland, to Portuguese parents, and came from the academies of Sporting Lisbon. He never played with Sporting’s first team, but went on loan to Cercle Brugge (2010-2012) and Olhanense (2012-2013) before coming back to Sporting to play for their second team in 2014. After one final loan spell at Cercle Brugge (2014), he moved to France’s 2nd Division for Metz in 2015. Last season, he had 27 appearances with the club. Reis has never been called up to the Portuguese National team, however he was the captain of Portugal’s U-20 side that finished 2nd at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2011. He was recommended by Gilberto Silva as Reis can play as a central defender and a defensive midfielder. He was a “free-agent” and signed a 3-year contract with Panathinaikos.
Former Lazio defensive midfielder, Cristain Ledesma, is currently training with Panathinaikos and is close to a deal with the club. Ledesma was an icon at Lazio as he played with the Italian side from 2006-2015. Last season he played in Brazil with Santos and will look to make a return to Europe with Panathinaikos.
