- Leali To Partner Kapino at Olympiacos -
After the transfer of their starting goalkeeper, Roberto, Olympiacos has announced a 1-year loan deal with Nikola Leali from Juventus. The 23-year old goalkeeper will fight with Stefanos Kapino for the #1 spot at Olympiacos.
Leali signed a 1-year loan deal at Olympiacos and the contract agreement allows Leali to stay at Olympiacos for a 2nd year, if the Greek club chooses to do so. The agreement also has a buy-out clause, at the end of the loan deal, that does not surpass 2.5 million Euros. At Olympiacos, he will fight with Stefanos Kapino for a place in the starting XI.
Nikola Leali signed with Juventus in 2012 and has been loaned out each season since then. The 23-year old goalkeeper has played with Virtus Lanciano (Serie B), Spezia (Serie B), Cesena (Serie A), and Frosinone (Serie A). Last season with Frosinone, he had 33 appearances in the Serie A, but the club was relegated to the 2nd division after finishing 19th in the standings. Additionally, Leali has played with all of Italy’s youth National Teams and awaits his first call-up to the senior team. At Juventus, he was the 3rd-tier goalie behind Buffon and Rubinho.
Greek International, Vaggelis Moras has played in Italy for many seasons and stated that he knows Leali well. Moras said “I know Leali well and have talked to many people that have worked with him. Leali is a great goalkeeper, however he lacks consistency. If he becomes consistent, he will become a very good goalie.” Moras went on to say that he believes in Kapino’s abilities and that he can be Olympiacos’ starting goalkeeper for many years.
