- Paulo Bento Takes Over Olympiacos -
Olympiacos has officially announced Paulo Bento as their new coach. The 47-year old Portuguese manager signed with the Greek Champions after Victor Sanchez was sacked earlier in the week.
Paulo Bento agreed to terms with Olympiacos on Tuesday and today the Portuguese manager was officially announced by the Erythrolefki. The 47-year old said that Marco Silva (former Olympiacos coach) played a vital role in his decision, convincing him to accept Olympiacos’ offer and sign with the Erythrolefki. He went on to say that he wants an attacking style of play and to win many titles in Piraeus. He mentioned that he understands that these next couple of weeks are critical for the success of the season with the Europa League Playoffs in one week and the start of the SuperLeague next weekend.
Now that the Erythrolefki have a new manager, the next focus will be changes to the roster. Martins was Olympiacos’ first addition to the new roster with many more players expected to be signed in the coming week. On the other hand, da Costa, Durmaz, and Maniatis seem to be on their way out along with other players (Seba, Figueiras, possibly Ideye, Milivojevic). A reminder that only one change can be made to Olympiacos’ roster for the upcoming matches against Arouca, since the list of players was submitted to UEFA on Monday
