- Papachristou Dissapoints in the Final -
TRACK & FIELD - WOMEN'S TRIPLE JUMP (final round)
|Paraskevi Papachristou||14.26 meters||8th|
Voula Papachristou failed to record a big jump in the Final round of the Women’s Triple Jump and finished 8th in the competition. Her best jump was 14.26 meters.
After finishing 2nd in the qualifying (14.43 meter jump), Voula Papachristou had high hopes for a medal in today’s Final Round. Her first jump was at 14.26 meters and was enough for her to earn 8th place after three jumps and advance to the final 8 with three jumps remaining. Papachristou could not surpass her first jump of 14.26 meters and in her final three attempts she jumped 14.01m, 13.99m, and 13.81m. Unfortunately the “big” jump did not come for the Greek athlete.
A reminder that Papachristou won the bronze medal at the 2016 World Championships and was considered a heavy contender for a medal going into the Rio Olympic Games. The gold medal went to Ibarguen from Colombia with a jump of 15.17 meters.
