TODAY'S COMPETING GREEK ATHLETES
Track & Field – Men's Shot Put, Qualifying A (8:55 AM): Nicholas Scarvellis
***Scarvellis will compete in the qualifying round of the Men's Shot Put. He will hope for a 12 top finish or a throw of 20.65 meters for a place in the final. The final will be held later in the day at 7:30 PM.
Wrestling – Women's Freestyle 53kg, Round of 16 (9:40 AM): Maria Prevolaraki
***Prevolaraki will face Babita Kumari from India in the Round of 16. If she advances she will compete in the quarter-finals at 10:28 AM. The semi-finals will be held at 11:16 AM with the gold medal match scheduled for 4:05 PM. There will be a repechage for each athlete that is defeated.
SAILING – Men’s 470, Medal Race (12:50 PM): Kagialis & Mantis
***Kagialias & Mantis have secured a medal in the competition after finishing 2nd in qualifying. The Greek team will hope to keep their silver medal and possibly win the gold.
Water Polo – Men's Tournament, 5th-8th Place Matches (2:10 PM): Greece - Spain
***Greece will face Spain in the 5th-8th place matches after their defeat to Italy in the quarter-finals. If they win they will play the winner between Hungary and Brazil.
