UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE - PLAYOFF QUALIFYING ROUND, LEG 1

AEK Larnaca 0 - 1 Slovan Liberec
Coubal 29'

AEK Larnaca will have a very difficult task ahead them if they hope to qualify for the UEFA Europa League Group Stage. The Cypriots fell 0-1 at home to Slovan Liberec in the first leg with the only goal of the game coming in the 29th minute from Coufal.

After a historic win in Russia against Spartak Moscow in the Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round, AEK Larnaca looked to take a good result to the Czech Republic from today's first leg. Things did not go according to plan for the Cypriots as they were defeated 0-1 by Slovan Liberec in the first leg of the Playoff Qualifying Round. The opening goal came in the 29th minute through Coufal. Things got worse for the hosts when they were left with 10-men in 65th minute after Ortiz was handed is second yellow of the game. Larena came close to a late equalizer for the hosts, but he was denied by the crossbar. On the other end, AEK Larnaca was fortunate not to concede a second goal with the visitors hitting the woodwork on two occasions.

AEK Larnaca will need another historic victory in the Czech Republic if they have any hopes of qualifying for the Europa League Group Stages. The second leg will be held next Thursday at 1:00 PM.
