UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE - 3RD QUALIFYING ROUND, LEG 2

AIK 1:00 PM (EST) Panathinaikos
(0 - 1)
Agg.

After winning the first leg at home 1-0, Panathinaikos will look to finish the job in Sweden against AIK in the 2nd leg. The Prasini are the clear favorites to advance as they hold a much more talented side in comparison to their opposition and did not concede an away goal in Greece. The Greek club will hope for one goal in Sweden which will put them in the driver’s seat to progress to the Europa League Playoff Qualifying Round.

Based on training, it is not exactly clear what formation Panathinaikos will play. A 3-5-2 formation is probable with Steele, Mesto, Ivanov, Koutroubis, Hult (or Nano), Moledo, Ledesma, Zeca, Ibarbo, Wakaso, and Berg.

Scenarios: The two teams will play tonight for a place in the UEFA Europa League Playoff Qualifying Round and the “defeated” team (on aggregate) will be eliminated from Europe. A win, draw, or loss by one goal (if Panathinaikos scores) will send Panathinaikos through while AIK will advance with a victory greater than one goal. Extra time will be played if AIK wins 1-0.

TV Listings: Unfortunately there will be no channels broadcasting the game in the United States, Canada, or Australia. If there is a reliable stream before or during the match it will be listed under our TV Listings page. In Greece, OTE Sport 4 will broadcast the game.

PAS Giannina 1:00 PM (EST) AZ Alkmaar

PAS Giannina had a great showing in Holland in the first leg where they fell 1-0 to AZ Alkmaar. The Epirotes will host the Dutch club at the Peristeri Stadium in Athens (3,000 fans will travel from Giannina) in hopes of completing a massive upset to advance to the Europa League Playoff Qualifying Round. PAS Giannina has already made great strides in their first ever European campaign knocking out Odd BK in the 2nd Qualifying round and putting on a respectable performance against AZ Alkmaar.

Scenarios: The two teams will play tonight for a place in the UEFA Europa League Playoff Qualifying Round and the “defeated” team (on aggregate) will be eliminated from Europe. A win, draw, or loss by one goal (if AZ Alkmaar scores) will send AZ Alkmaar through while PAS Giannina will advance with a victory greater than one goal. Extra time will be played if PAS Giannina wins 1-0.

Agg.

AEK will host Saint Etienne in a highly anticipated match at the OAKA Stadium in Athens. The Dikefalos got a great result in France, drawing Saint Etienne 0-0 in their first game in Europe since 2011! A heated atmosphere is excepted from the home supporters who will try and help their team get the result they are are looking for. The players seem confident they can progress to the next round with their ultimate goal of reaching the Europa League Group Stage.

Timur Ketsbaia will have a full team for tomorrow’s match adding newly signed Patito and Hugo Almeida to the roster. AEK is expected to play more offensively in comparison to the first leg with the starting line up consisting of: Anestis, Didac, Chygrynskiy, Kolovetsios, Galo, Simoes, Johansson, Mantalos, Barabosa, Aravidis/Vargas, and Pekhart/Bakasetas

Scenarios: The two teams will play tonight for a place in the UEFA Europa League Playoff Qualifying Round and the “defeated” team (on aggregate) will be eliminated from Europe.
