GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 3
|Levadiakos||0 - 3||Panathinaikos|
|Ledesma (p) 8'
Panathinaikos put on a good, serious performance in their opening match of this year’s Greek SuperLeague and easily defeated Levadiakos 0-3. Ledesma opened the score with a penalty, Wakaso followed late in the first half, and Leto added another in the final 15 minutes..
From the get go, Panathinaikos dominated and implemented their rhythm on the match. In the 8th minute, Marcus Berg won a penalty that Ledesma converted into a goal, giving Panathinaikos the early lead. The visitors did not let up and continued to press Levadiakos and in the 37th minute the second goal came. Zeca’s cross found Berg, who set up Wakaso in front of goal and the Ghanaian tapped the ball into the net for this first goal with Panathinaikos.
Things did not change in the second half as Panathinaikos controlled the game. Ibarabo and Ledesma had great opportunities to score but were denied by Levadiakos’ keeper Namasco. In the 74th minute, Berg once again created the opportunity, setting up Mesto, who then found Leto and the Argentinian made it 0-3 from close-range. Berg had a late opportunity to score a goal for himself, but again Namasco came away with another great save.
After an emphatic start to the season in both Greece and Europe, Panathinaikos will host Ajax in the Europa League on Thursday. In Matchday 4, they will play at home to PAS Giannina while Levadiakos will travel to Crete to play Platanias.
