- Second Medal for Polychronidis -
Grigoris Polychronidis has won his second medal at the the Rio Paralympic Games. The Greek athlete lost to Ho Won Jeong from South Korea 8-1 in the Boccia BC3 Individual final to finish in second place and win the silver medal.
Grigoris Polychronidis secured a medal in the Boccia Individual BC3 event after defeating Han Sou Kim 4-1 in the semi-final. In today's gold medal match, Polychronidis was up against Ho Won Jeong from South Korea . He fell behind early, losing the first two periods 1-0 and 2-0. Things did not get better for the Greek athlete in the final two periods, losing 5-0 in the 3rd and earning his only point of the match in the 4th (0-1). Despite his 8-1 defeat, Polychronidis earned the silver medal in the competition and his second medal in Rio (won bronze in the Mixed Boccia BC3 event).
Polychronidis was Greece’s flag bearer in the opening ceremonies after winning gold in London 2012. This is Greece’s 13th medal in Rio (5 golds, 4 silver, 4 bronze).
