In the 8th minute of their Europa League fixture against Sassuolo, Karelis opened the score with a clever, right-footed finish, registering his seventh goal of the season. Genk added a second in the 25th minute and sealed their victory with their third goal in the 61st minute. Sassuolo scored a consolation goal in the 65th minute as Genk went on to win 3-1 at home. The win gives Genk their first points in the Europa League group stage with all four teams in the group level on 3 points after two fixtures.
