|Iraklis||0 - 1||Xanthi|
Xanthi went unbeaten for the 11th consecutive match and recorded their fifth straight win on the road after defeating Iraklis 0-1 in the postponed fixture from matchday 1. Younes scored the only goal of the game as he now sits atop the goal scoring chart with Ideye from Olympiacos on 9 goals this season.
Xanthi continued their IMPRESSIVE run this season with their fifth straight win on the road by defeating Iraklis 0-1. Younes made the most of Xanthi’s only real chance of the game, scoring in the 57th minute with a good, left-footed finish from inside the penalty area. Younes, who was denied from the penalty spot in the first half, has now scored nine goals this season and is tied with Ideye (Olympiacos) for the league’s leading goal scorer title.
As for Iraklis, they fought for a point as they created the better opportunities in the 90 minutes of play, but were handed another defeat this season and continue to sit at the bottom of the table. Iraklis was left with 10 men in the 85th minute when Perrone was sent off with a second yellow card as they expressed their frustration with Kyzas’ refereeing during the match.
Xanthi became the first team this season to record five away wins (Olympiacos has four) and now claim second place in the standings with 25 points (third placed Panathinaikos plays on Thursday). The team from Thrace has gone 11 games unbeaten since 17-September when they fell to Panionios, and will have a big test over the weekend against league leaders, Olympiacos. Iraklis are bottom of the table with 7 points from 13 matches and will fight to keep their hopes of survival alive when they travel to Veria on Saturday.
