GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 2

Panetolikos 0 - 2 Panionios
Masoud 59'
Masouras 74'

Panionios took full advantage of PAOK and AEK’s slip ups over the weekend as they climbed to second place in the standings (tied with Xanthi) after their 0-2 win against Panetolikos. Both goals were preceded by assists from Panetolikos players with Masoud and Masouras converting the chances into second half goals

Two second half goals from Masoud and Masouras led Panionios to a 0-2 victory in Agrinio over Panetolikos. Masoud opened the scoring in the 59th minute, taking advantage of Tsokanis’ poor clearance of a corner as the ball fell to the Iranian for an easy tap in and 0-1 lead. Masoud was in an offsides position during the goal, however since the ball was cleared from the opposing team the goal rightfully stood.

The visitors were the overall better side in the 90 minutes of play and in the 76th minute, they secured all three points when Masouras found the back of the net from close-range. Like the first goal, the assist was provided by a Panetolikos player with Handakias’ flick-on header falling nicely for Masouras.

The win moves Panionios up to second place, along with Xanthi on 25-points while Panetolikos sit in 10th with 16-points.
