Platanias recorded their third straight victory at home, defeating Larisa 3-2 in Chania. The poor playing conditions (snow) made it difficult for both teams to create a good effort on goal in the first half. However, in the first real opportunity of the game Munafo made no mistake with his well placed shot from inside the penalty area, giving Platanias the 1-0 lead in the 44th minute.
Nine minutes after the restart, Pryndeta’s powerful header from Llorente’s corner gave Platanias a comfortable 2-0 lead. The visitors were given a lifeline when Yaya’s unnecessary handball inside the penalty area resulted in a spot kick for Larissa. Nazlidis converted from 11-meters to bring the Vyssini within one goal with over 30 minutes remaining in the game.
However, Manousos put the match out of reach with 15 minutes remaining when he was played in on goal, beating the last defender and goalkeeper, to re-give Platanias a two goal advantage. In second half stoppage time, Nazlidis added his name to the score sheet for the second time on the night, but the goal was only a consolation as Platanias were victorious 3-2.
The win is Platanias’ third in a row at home as they now sit only two points behind a playoff spot in the standings. Larissa remain near the relegation zone with 13-points from 14 games.
