Panathinaikos took full control of their two legged tie with Kissamikos after defeating the Cretan club 3-0 at home. All three goals were scored in the second half with Berg finding the breakthrough before Leto added two goals in the final 15 minutes. Ouzounidis will be happy with the performance from his youngsters as they grasped the opportunity given to them in today’s match.
Panathinaikos “secured” their place in the Greek Cup Quarter-finals after their commanding 3-0 win against Kissamikos in Athens. After a poor first half, the hosts stepped up their game in the second 45 minutes, scoring three goals to kill off the visitors.
Berg opened the scoring with his headed goal four minutes after the restart and Leto doubled his side’s lead in the 74th minute with his brilliantly placed header. In the final minute of play, Vlachodimos was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty, and Leto converted from the spot for the 3-0 victory.
Marinos Ouzounidis will be extremely pleased to see his “youngsters” put on an exceptional performance in today’s match. Vlachodimos (best showing yet at Panathinaikos), Marinakis, Evangelou, and Chatzigiovannis each grasped the opportunity that was given to them by Ouzounidis and they will likely make their way into the roster for the upcoming Superleague fixtures (according to Ouzounidis in the post game interview).
Panathinaikos will look to finish the job in the second leg when they travel to Crete in two weeks time.
