More Dropped Points for Olympiacos, Asteras Continue Good Form

-- MORE DROPPED POINTS FOR OLYMPIACOS, ASTERAS CONTINUES GOOD FORM --

GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 16

Asteras Tripolis 0 - 0 Olympiacos

Olympiacos were held to a draw away from home for the second time in a row after they failed to find a way past 10-man Asteras Tripolis in their Matchday 16 clash.

Paulo Bento’s league leaders, who let a two-goal lead slip against Platanias at the weekend, enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and chances in a match played in difficult conditions on a rain-soaked pitch.

The Red and Whites were handed the impetus to attack on the hour when Asteras’ Argentine midfielder Pablo Mazza was dismissed after picking up a second yellow card for diving, but despite a flurry of second-half chances, including Kostas Fortounis shaving the post with a free-kick, Olympiacos could not find a way through.

The result took Olympiacos to 39 points, with second-placed Xanthi now just eight points adrift after 16 matches. Asteras Tripolis will be pleased with the result, continuing their good string of form. The Arkades are tied for 10th with Panetolikos on 19-points.
