Olympiacos put behind them their loss to Panathinaikos in the cup, thrashing Baskonia 92-62 in the 18th Round of the Euroleague. The win gives Olympiacos full control of home court advantage for the playoffs.
Olympiacos played exceptional basketball at the Stadio Eirinis kai Filias, blowing out Baskonia 92-62 in the Euroleague. The Erythrolefki dominated the Spaniards on both ends of the court while holding their opponents to only 62 points, 20 points under their average for the season.
Olympiacos took full control of the game in the second quarter where they grew the lead to double digits, reaching up to 24-points (48-24) in the first half. After the halftime break, Olympiacos kept up their charge and increased their advantage to as many as 35-points (76-41). In the end, the hosts claimed a rather easy 92-62 victory over a very good (poor on the night) Baskonia side.
All 12 Olympiacos players added their names to the score sheet with Spanoulis, Printezis, and Papanikolaou each finishing the game with 12-points. Green added 11-points for the hosts.
The win moves Olympiacos’ record to 13-5 in the Euroleague as they sit tied for second place along with Real Madrid. The Greek Champions are in full control to finish in the top four at the end of the season, which leads to home court advantage in the playoffs. Baskonia fall to 11-7, tied with Fenerbahce for 4th place.
