Asteras Tripolis hosted Trikala in the second leg of the Greek Cup Round of 16, carrying a 2-0 lead on aggregate. The first leg score left little hope to Trikala for a comeback, resulting in a match that was played at a slow pace. Despite Asteras using a second string squad (many youngsters), they recorded their second victory over the Football League side with Ioannidis scoring the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute.

The result gave Asteras Tripolis the 3-0 win on aggregate, becoming the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals of the competition.

GREEK SOCCER CUP - ROUND OF 16 (LEG 1)

Avgenikou 4'
Spyropoulos 16'
Dauda 3', 14'

Atromitos and Lamia each scored twice in their first leg match of the Greek Cup Round of 16 as the two teams shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Despite the high scoring encounter, all the action was held in the first 16 minutes of the match. On both occasions, Atromitos took the lead with Dauda but the hosts responded with goals of their own. Avgenikou netted the hosts’ first goal and their second was scored by Spyropoulos as his long ranged effort found the top corner of the net.

The two teams will play their rematch in one week’s time at the Peristeri Stadium. Atromitos will not only have the home support on their side, but will also have two away goals to their name which could play a key role in the final score on aggregate.
