-- PAS Giannina and Officials Hold Panathinaikos --
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 19
|PAS Giannina||1 - 1||Panathinaikos|
|Conde 31'||Berg 56'|
Panathinaikos threw away another two points by drawing their third SuperLeague match in succession after the Greens failed to take their chances in a one-sided match against PAS Giannina which ended 1-1.
Marinos Ouzounidis’ team fell behind to a goal from PAS’s Spanish forward Pedro Conde (who was clearly in an offsides position) after 31 minutes.
That setback did not stem the flow of the Greens’ attacks as for once Panathinaikos put together some neat passing play and controlled the match for long spells at the Zosimades stadium.
But all the visitors could muster was a 56th-minute equalizer from Sweden striker Marcus Berg, with several chances thereafter going begging on another frustrating night for the Trifylli. The hosts were fortunate not to be left with ten men after Karanikas’ off the ball foul on Marcus Berg, that should have been penalized with a straight red card.
The result moved Panathinaikos level on 32 points with the chasing pack of Panionios, Xanthi and PAOK - all of whom play on Sunday - while Olympiakos are 13 points ahead in top spot.
