-- Newboys Lead PAOK’s Charge to Another Win --
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 19
|PAOK||3 - 2||Asteras Tripolis|
|Manias 18', 79'
PAOK recorded a remarkable 12th win in 13 matches on Sunday as the SuperLeague’s form club came from behind to overcome Asteras Tripolis and move third in the table after an enthralling Matchday 19 contest in Thessaloniki.
Not content with last weekend’s history-making fifth league match win in a row, Vladan Ivic’s in-form side were at it again at an electric Toumba stadium, winning their sixth game in a row and moving third, level on 35 points with Panionios.
On another memorable night for PAOK’s fans in what has been a rollercoaster season for the club, things did not start in the ideal way as the visitors opened the scoring through Michalis Manias in the 18th minute.
It was a deserved goal for Asteras, who had started the match in attacking mood and caught the hosts off guard. Falling behind only served to spark the Black and Whites to life, however, and Yevhen Shakov levelled matters just 10 minutes later.
January transfer window signing Aleksandar Prijovic, who joined from Legia Warsaw, then gave PAOK the lead in the 70th minute, but this time the visitors were quick to strike back nine minutes later with the lively Manias again on target.
There was still time for a final twist in the tail, and it came six minutes from full-time when another of the club’s January newcomers in Brazilian forward Pedro Henrique struck to win the game and spark jubilant celebrations among the PAOK fans.
