-- Benfica Denied €20 Million Bid for Samaris --
English Premier League side, Sunderland, came close to snagging Andreas Samaris from Benfica on the final day of the transfer window with a €20 Million offer.
According to Record from Portugal, Sunderland offered Benfica €20 Million for Andreas Samaris on the final day of the winter transfer window. The Portuguese club denied the offer, seeing that Samaris' transfer would pose a risk to the club after Danilo was already loaned out to Standard Liege.
Samaris was linked to moves to Russia and England throughout the month of January as David Moyes' Sunderland showed the most interest in the Greek midfielder. The English club could come back with another offer over the summer, but for now Samaris will finish the season at Benfica.
