-- A Great Weekend for Greek Players Abroad --
Five goals were scored by Greek players abroad over the weekend as Alexandros Tziolis, Giannis Fetfatzidis, Vasilis Torosidis, Kostas Mitroglou, and Kyriakos Papadopoulos each found the back of the net for their respective clubs.
Alexandros Tziolis’ debut in Heart’s starting XI was accompanied by a goal as he opened the scoring in Heart’s 0-3 win over Motherwell on Friday. Tziolis signed with Hearts on the final day of the transfer window as he looks to re-find his form with his new club.
Giannis Fetfatzidis found the breakthrough for Al-Ahli in their local derby against Al-Ittihad, leading his side to a 1-4 victory. It was Fetfatzidis’ second goal of the season in Saudi Arabia.
Kostas Mitroglou continued his tremendous season as he scored Benfica’s final goal in their 3-0 win over Nacional. Mitroglou has now scored 16 goals this season for the Eagles.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos punished his parent club, Bayer Leverkusen, with his 76th minute goal proving to be the winner for Hamburg in their Bundesliga clash. Papadopoulos signed a loan deal with Hamburg from Bayer Leverkusen in January and has already made an impact at his new club.
Vassilis Torosidis scored his first goal with Bologna, but his side were miserably defeated 1-7 by Napoli.
