GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 21

Panetolikos 1 - 2 Platanias
Rey 81'

Manoussos (p) 27'
Karypidis 55'

Platanias kept their hopes of making the top five of the SuperLeague and clinching a place in the playoffs alive with a gutsy 2-1 win over Panaitolikos in their Matchday 21 clash in Agrinio.

The Cretan club went 2-0 ahead thanks to striker Giorgos Manousos’ 27th-minute penalty and defender Christos Karipidis goal 10 minutes after half-time, and held on for the three points despite late pressure from the home side following Spanish midfielder Alvaro Rey’s goal eight minutes from full-time.

Giorgos Paraschos’ Platanias side, who occupy sixth spot, moved to within a single point of fifth-placed Skoda Xanthi, and with AEK Athens and PAS Giannina also vying for a play-off spot, an intriguing battle lies ahead for the remainder of the season.
