-- Mitroglou Denies GOLDEN Offer from China --
Kostas Mitroglou has once again denied an astronomical amount of money from the Chinese for his move to Asia.
The Chinese are back for Kostas Mitroglou, however the Greece international has denied yet another tremendous offer from the club Tianjin Quanjian. The Asian club first offered Benfica €20 Million for Mitroglou’s transfer, an amount that was quickly denied by the Eagles and soon thereafter, Tianjin Quanjian came back with an offer of €30 Million, but yet again Benfica refused the amount.
The Chinese did not let up and offered €45 Million to Benfica for Mitroglou, an amount that satisfies the transfer clause in his contract and an amount that Benfica would be forced to accept (due to the clause) if the player is willing to make a move.
However, Mitroglou made it clear (as he has done in the past) that he does not want to move to China despite being offered a LARGE amount of money. Tianjin Quanjian offered Mitroglou €8 Million a year, which is FIVE times the amount of money he currently makes with Benfica.
Mitroglou is in the best form of his career and has had a great season with Benfica. In 30 appearances for the club (25 as a starter) he has scored 19 goals in all competitions. Clearly Mitroglou is putting his career first rather than the extra zeros in his bank account.
Tianjin Quanjian plans to make Mitroglou theirs and will remain in Portugal with hopes of convincing the player (with a larger amount of money) to continue his career in China. The transfer window in China closes on February 28th.
