22 Consecutive Seasons With a Title for Panathinaikos

On Sunday, Panathinaikos defeated Aris in the Greek Basketball Cup Final to win their sixth consecutive Greek Cup Championship. The championship marks TWENTY TWO consecutive seasons that Panathinaikos have celebrated at least one title.

The INCREDIBLE streak began in 1995/96 where Panathinaikos won both the Greek Cup and European Championship. Since then, The Prasini have celebrated at least one title per season, making for a 22-year Championship streak.

It is currently the longest active run and Panathinaikos are one season away from tying the longest “championship streak” in history. With their win over Aris, the Trifylli surpassed Partizan Tirana’s record of 21-years (1972-1992) and tied Olimpija Ljubljana’s record of 22-seasons (1972-1992).

Panathinaikos now have their eyes on Real Madrid’s (1960-1982)  and Maccabi Tel-Aviv’s (1970-1992) record of 23 consecutive seasons with a title.
