On Sunday, Panionios shocked Olympiacos as they celebrated victory at the Karaiskaki Stadium handing the Erythrolefki their first home defeat in domestic play since December 2014.
The Karaiskaki “palace” fell on Sunday as Panionios defeated Olympiacos 0-1 in Superleague play. The home defeat Olympiacos’ first in all domestic competitions since December 3, 2014 when PAOK defeated the Erythrolefki 1-2.
Since then, in other words 27 months (2.5 years), Olympiacos have played 48 domestic home fixtures (Greek Superleague and Cup) recording 42 wins and six draws before Panionios’’ surprising victory on Sunday.
As for Panionios, the historic win ended a 31-year winless drought against Olympiacos on the road.
The result pulls Panionios within seven points of the league leaders with just eight games left to play in the season.
