Mitroglou’s Double Gives Benfica Lead In Cup Semi-FInal

Mitroglou’s Double Gives Benfica Narrow In Cup Semi-Final

Kostas Mitroglou has scored again! The Greece international scored a double for Benfica, including an 89th minute winner, to give his side a 1-2 win over Estoril in their first leg semi-final fixture in the Portuguese Cup.

Mitroglou, who has scored non-stop in league play, transferred his TREMENDOUS form to Cup play, leading Benfica to a 1-2 victory over Estoril in their first leg of the Portuguese Cup Semi-finals. The 28-year old opened the scoring in the 36th minute with an easy tap-in from Zivkovic’s cross before the hosts quickly equalized five minutes later from the penalty spot

However, Mitroglou struck again one minute from time as he received a pass from Cervi inside the penalty area (looks to be in an offsides position), to cooley put the ball past the opposing keeper, giving Benfica the 1-2 win. The result makes Benfica the clear favorites to advance to the Cup Final before the two teams meet in Lisbon for the second leg.

Mitroglou has now scored 18 goals in his last 16 games for Benfica as he continues to find the back of the net in ALL competitions.
